Amparo Connors – December 1968 Amparo Diaz emigrated from Bogotá, Colombia. January 1982, she earned a BA Summa Cum Laude, from Queens College in three and a half years with a double major in Communications and Drama Theater Arts. Graduation brought an invitation into the Executive Training Program at Sterns Department stores. Amparo ended an eight-year retail career as Buyer of Misses Sportswear. 1987 lured by a new career, as Personnel Consultant, an employment agency in Forest Hills stipulated a need for a pseudonym that clients would quickly remember. “Amy” Connors was thus ‘born’ in the staffing industry. Within two years, Amparo (Amy) specialized in Apparel, Real Estate and Medical staffing within Queens and Nassau. After twelve years, in search of a more humanistic and personalized placement approach she chose the challenge of establishing her own staffing company, Allied Personnel Services, Inc. Core family values, utmost honesty with clients, candidates and staff, plus a strong faith foundation that what we do for others truly matters are the foundations upon which she built her business and realized the ‘American Dream’. Living the motto “Whatever you give comes back ten-fold”, Amparo is an active member of The Queens Chamber of Commerce, The Long Island City Business Development Corp., The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The Business Alliance of Queens. A founding board member of the Health and Business Alliance, she also serves on the boards of The New York Staffing Association and The Mary Louis Academy Alumnae Association. She is a proud Queens resident with a great love for New York City and its dynamic people.


Andy Curtis – March 2004, Andy celebrated his Fifth Anniversary as our first Account Executive. Previously working in Manhattan and LI, Queens was a new venture; he quickly learned to put his life experience to full use. Andy focused on Financial Institutions and Back Office staffing, having previously placed Administrative Assistants for two years at a NYC employment agency. Twenty years of banking experience, coupled with an affinity for recruiting, allows Andy to use his mutli-lingual (Spanish & Portuguese) skills. Recruiting in a borough as culturally diverse as Queens proved a big plus. Andy expanded his expertise to the Food and Beverage industries. He is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School with a BA from City College and an MBA from Baruch College. Having additional experience with the Peace Corps in Peru and as a business owner in Central America, Andy’s greatest strength is a keen analytical insight. To our candidates’ benefit, during in-depth dialogue, and mock interviews, Andy unearths their hidden strengths.

Helene Frost – After seven years at a Queens Employment Agency, working with Amparo, Helene joined us May 1999. Bringing twenty years of prior staffing experience includes supervising sales and recruitment as a Branch Manager for a national staffing corporation. Working with many distributors, manufacturers, non-profits, and legal firms to name a few industries, Helene’s wealth of knowledge and ease in solving even the most difficult staffing requests always shines through. A request for 100+ warehouse picker-packers for a major Brooklyn pharmaceutical has been met with excellent logistical expertise. Fulfilling clients’ needs staffing Permanent positions as well, goes hand-in-hand with the flexible and customized placement approach that is at our core. Helene has an AAS from Nassau Community College, with a degree in Special Education. Strong family values and warmth beyond compare allow her to deeply empathize with all candidates, while clients loyally entrust Helene with all manner of staffing requests.

Monique Cruz – The most recent member of our core team, Monique began at Allied Personnel April 2003. Utilizing her outstanding PC skills Monique streamlined, refined and created many reports, tracking forms and procedures which help to maximize our productivity to better serve our clients. In partnership with Janice, Monique oversees error free payroll processing and billing. As Operations Supervisor, excelling in staffing temporary positions, Monique maintains communications with all temporary employees ensuring an accurate and efficient database, but more importantly attending to all their needs.

Janice Gilfedder - Beginning full time June 1999, in what was to be only summer employment, it quickly became apparent that Janice’s talents could continue to enrich us. Janice’s math skills and attention to detail led her from Payroll Coordinator to Full Charge Bookkeeper. Having obtained her Master’s Degree from Long Island University, while a public school Teacher to 4th grade gifted students, Janice continues to juggle work for Allied Personnel. Utilizing sharp analytical skills for sensitive business analysis and staff training, Janice continually contributes to improving our procedures.
